Book promotion may be harder than writing the book. All the time you put into writing the next great bestseller may seem like the challenge, but in truth getting that book seen by the readers is the real goal. So how can you get that book before all those wonderful readers that you know are going to rave about your book? Promotion! Unless your a celebrity, and even those people are fighting in a competitive market these days, you have got to get the word out about your masterpiece. Today I'd like to share some of the ways I promote my work and hopefully these ideas will motivate you to get your book in the spotlight.
Over the last two years I've used a lot of different venues with trial and error results. The number one program I've tried with incredible results is the KDP Select promotion through Amazon. This is a free program for authors and the results have been phenomenal. The downside to this program is that you have to agree to exclusive sales on Amazon for a three month duration. The upside is that Amazon knows what its doing and your book is going to be in front of new readers that you probably would not have reached without it. I won't go into more details about this program, but you can read it from the link listed above.
If you haven't heard of Kindle Nation, as an author you owe it to yourself to discover this incredible site. One of the best promotion weeks I've had is thanks to this incredible site and I have become one of their biggest fans for that reason. This Site in my opinion, goes along with the KDP Select because it showcases free books on Amazon, and believe me when I tell you readers are keeping up there. They have a sponsorship program for authors, and if it's in your budget I would highly recommend using it.
Book blogs, I can't say enough how important it is to get your book on as many book blogs as possible. If you are trying to reach readers then it's the best place to begin. There are so many incredible book blogs out there that it would take me a year to list them all here. To get you started in the right direction I'm sharing this list of blogs by rank for you to look over. The idea here is to find bloggers that are talking about your style of writing.
Facebook, as much as it pains me to say it, is still being touted as the number one social media tool for authors. As many of my readers know, I had a breakup with facebook last year because of the roleplay characters that work with me on bringing the Tears of Crimson Vampire series to life. I have since forgiven them for their bad manners, I'm sure that really concerned them, and have begun to tiptoe back around there and talk to my long lost friends. There are so many different groups on facebook that I can't name them all, but I will list a few of note. Kindle Nation Daily and BookLending these have proven to be worth their weight in gold.
These are just a few ideas and I hope they help you. I'll be adding some information about Twitter and other services that I use in the upcoming weeks. I hope you'll share with me what has worked for you as far as book promotion.
